Meet Todd Perkins, MD
Board-certified dermatologist Todd Perkins, MD, practices medical and procedural dermatology with a particular interest in cosmetic and surgical dermatology, as well as immunotherapy for skin disease. He provides personalized care for patients at Metroderm DC: Medical, Laser, and Aesthetic Dermatology Center in Washington, DC.
In addition to having a strong focus on skin cancer and new therapies for skin diseases—including psoriasis, eczema, skin allergies, autoimmune skin disease, and acne—Dr. Perkins performs advanced cosmetic dermatology procedures. He uses procedures and techniques that are unique to the DC area, such as Thread Lifts when filler cannot get rid of stubborn lines around the mouth and jowls, and Deep Radio-frequency Microneedling for acne scarring, non-surgical neck lifts, and scar treatments. He employs Low Downtime Laser Rejuvenation for fine lines and wrinkles, as well as skin discoloration such as sun-damaged skin and brown spots, along with blood vessels and skin redness.
He has perfected the liquid facelift with neurotoxins such as Daxxify and fillers, for which he exclusively uses cannulas to improve safety, enhance appearance, and reduce bruising. His technique is never overdone, allowing patients to return to the office immediately. Also unique to his practice is the use of deoxycholic acid to treat stubborn pockets of fat, such as the double chin. He is especially skilled in acne scar treatments, including TCA Cross, subcision, radiofrequency, and fractionated lasers. He also specializes in treating hair loss in both women and men, offering platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and innovative medical therapies.
Dr. Perkins is a native Washingtonian. He graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in political economy from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, and obtained his medical degree with honors from Hahnemann University in Philadelphia, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his residency at Rush Medical Center in Chicago, where he served as Chief Resident in dermatology.
After completing his residency, Dr. Perkins trained and supervised dermatology residents at MedStar Washington Hospital Center as a staff attending dermatologist. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and a diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology.
Dr. Perkins previously served as president of the Washington, D.C., Dermatological Society. He is an advisor to several pharmaceutical companies and trains physicians locally and nationally on the proper use of advanced medical treatments. Dr. Perkins has also appeared numerous times on Fox 5 DC for its “Ask a Dermatologist” sessions.
He has been selected by his peers as one of Washington’s Top Dermatologists, as published in Washingtonian Magazine, for many years—including this year, 2025.
