From Controlling Acne to Minimizing Signs of Aging: Learn What a HydraFacial Can do for You

What if you could do one thing to dramatically improve the health and appearance of your skin — just one thing that could leave your skin feeling deeply clean and healthy? There is — it’s called HydraFacial®, and all it takes is 30 minutes of your time.

At our Washington, DC, practice, Edward Stolar, MD, Todd Perkins, MD, and the team at MetroDerm DC use HydraFacial technology to treat an array of skin issues, including:

Here’s how HydraFacial works — and how it could help you.

HydraFacial: The science behind the results

As many as 50 million Americans suffer from acne, the most common skin condition in the United States. Acne happens when bacteria grows in follicles clogged with dead skin, dirt, and sticky oil. As bacteria multiply, an infection develops that causes redness, inflammation, and pimples.

Age-related changes, like fine lines, wrinkles, and pigmentation changes, happen when the superficial layers of skin are damaged. Initial age-related skin changes begin younger than you may think — typically around age 25!

HydraFacial works on the layers of skin where acne and age-related changes occur, deeply cleansing the skin while providing it with the nutrients and nourishment it needs for optimal health.

To achieve those goals, HydraFacial uses proprietary Vortex-Fusion technology, combining a unique spiral design with gentle vacuuming suction to deep-clean pores, exfoliate damaged skin, and infuse the deeper layers with moisture and nutrients.

One treatment, three special steps

HydraFacial treatment involves three unique stages or steps, and each stage can be adjusted and customized for your skin, your concerns, and your goals.

Step 1: Cleanse and peel

In this step, Vortex-fusion takes center stage, using the cleansing power of water to deeply clean pores and loosen dead skin and dirt. Special solutions dissolve and break up oily debris trapped inside your pores, while exfoliating agents “loosen up” the uppermost layers of dull, dead skin.

Step 2: Extract and hydrate

In this stage, HydraFacial uses gentle suction to remove the debris and dead skin loosened in the previous step, leaving skin deeply clean. Next, special moisturizers are infused into your skin for optimal rehydration.

Step 3: Infuse and protect

In this final step, HydraFacial delivers special nutrients, antioxidants, and other “extras” based on your skin’s unique needs. The deep-pore cleansing and extraction from the previous two steps mean your skin is able to absorb nutrients at a deeper level for long-lasting, healthy results.

Enjoy healthier, more beautiful skin

HydraFacial treatment takes just a half-hour, making it a great treatment for even the busiest women and men. Even better, treatments can be repeated on a regular basis to provide your skin with the nutrients and support it needs to look and feel its healthiest best.
